USGBC - The U.S. Green Building Council is a non-profit community of leaders working to make green buildings available to everyone within a generation. They certify sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods. USGBC is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™.
ASHRAE – Founded in 1894, ASHRAE is an international organization of 51,000 persons. It fulfils its mission of advancing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education.
SESSA - The Sustainable Energy Society of Southern Africa, is a non profit organisation dedicated to the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency. It is dedicated to the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency including all solar-based energies such as photovoltaics, thermal heating and cooling, wind, biomass and hydro, to name a few. Other utilization possibilities of this principle source of energy are in passive building design and energy efficiency. The inter-disciplinary nature of SESSA attracts the membership of industry, scientists, researchers, developers and the general public – the only qualification is a keen interest in renewable energy and its utilization to ensure a sustainable energy future. SESSA was founded in 1974 and is one of 50 National Sections of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). ISES is regarded as the premier body in solar energy with members in over 100 countries. SESSA is the duly appointed African office of ISES.
NFRC – The National Fenestration Rating Council is a non-profit organization that administers the only uniform, independent rating and labelling system for the energy performance of windows, doors, skylights, and attachment products. Our goal is to provide fair, accurate, and reliable energy performance ratings so that: a) Architects, builders, code officials, contractors, homeowners, and others can compare different products and make informed product choices. b) Building officials, state government employees, and others involved in code development and enforcement can determine if products meet local codes. c) Government- and utility-run energy efficiency programs can establish performance requirements and standards. d) Manufacturers have a fair and level playing field to compare products and an accurate method of showing the energy benefits of new designs or technology.
IBPSA -The International Building Performance Simulation Association is a non-profit international society of building performance simulation researchers, developers and practitioners, dedicated to improving the built environment. It was founded to advance and promote the science of building performance simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of new and existing buildings worldwide.
GBCA -The Green Building Council of Australia Launched in 2002, the GBCA is a national, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to developing a sustainable property industry for Australia by encouraging the adoption of green building practices. It is uniquely supported by both industry and governments across the country.
The Daylighting Collaborative was initiated by the Energy Center of Wisconsin and its sponsoring members as a source of why-do and how-to information for daylighting using windows. With the growing interest in the energy savings benefits and research on the other non-energy related benefits, the Daylighting Collaborative and its website were re-focused to not only provide information but act as a gateway to other existing information on daylighting.
